A Dia De Los Muertos Celebration

Posted on October 16, 2014 at 3:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Gala Events & Weddings is hosting Meet the Humboldt Maker on Sunday, November 2, 2014 with a Dia De Los Muertos Celebration.

TIME: 6pm - 9pm

Meet the Humboldt Maker (MTHM) is an opportunity to meet a local business and find out more about what they do. Gala Events & Weddings has the honor of hosting MTHM on November 2nd... which happens to be Dia De Los Muertos (the Mexican celebration of loved ones who've passed)... so, we thought we'd showcase Gala Events & Weddings by hosting a Dia De Los Muertos Celebration!

Bring ofrendas (offerings of: flowers, favorite foods, candles, and pictures of loved ones) to place on the altar. Get your face painted calaca-style (skull-style), and enjoy traditional Mexican treats like Pan Muertos (Dead Bread) compliments of Los Bagels, and traditional Mexican foods from Esmeralda's Mexican Restaurant.

Take this opportunity to experience Gala's style and ask Alegria Sita Amor questions about the company.

See you there!

Highlights from the 13th Annual River Lodge Bridal Fair

We had a fantastic time at this year's 13th Annual Fortuna River Lodge Bridal Faire!  It was an honor to be among so many of Humboldt's talented vendors. We always enjoy the opportunity to see everyone in action, meet all the new brides with their families, friends, and fiancé/ées, and we love to be a part of the action!

This year we were stationed under a gorgeous chandelier on the dance floor, facing the entryway.  We loved our across-the-way neighbors, Promises Bridal and Formal Wear, and had fun sending brides to one another all day long!

DIY is one of the biggest trends on the rise in wedding planning these days... so we were really excited to promote the launch of our DIY Wedding Planning Workshop Series at the faire!  Our first workshop will focus on general logistics of planning a wedding emphasizing budgets and vendor selection, contracts and negotiations, and timelines and itineraries.  It will be held at on Tuesday, February 4th from 6pm - 8pm at the" target="_blank">Humboldt Bay Tourism Center. Cost is $10/person; anyone that books Gala Events & Weddings prior to the workshop receives free admission to any workshop in the series. Light appetizers will be provided and each bride 21+ will receive a complimentary glass of Briceland Brut. Brides are encouraged to bring a friend or two (besties, brides maids, and/or mother(s) and sister(s).  Tools, tips, and advice included!

Stay tuned for an update on a schedule of additional DIY Wedding Planning Workshops with topics addressing all aspects of planning your wedding.

While Rustic, Shabby-Chic is still a hot trend in wedding décor, we are seeing a fancy elegance emerge in the 2014 décor trends... with more crystal and glass.  We were proud to feature a natural elegance at our booth with Fire and Light dinnerware and crystal lotus candle holders.  The crystal and glass add such a sparkly touch to the natural mosses and rustic, wooden candle holders.

We have been building a partnership with" target="_blank">Humboldt Hardware who is actively developing a line of rustic wedding products. We were honored to feature some of their token wood products at our booth. Be sure to ask us about all of the options you have for customizing wooden details at your wedding!

We loved Muir Adam's booth with that rustic Humboldt feel!

And of course all the pretty at Flora Organica Designs' booth!

We were so busy with brides at the faire, that we didn't get very many opportunities to connect with all of the amazing vendors in attendance.  Since the bridal faire, our phone has been ringing non-stop, and our inbox is filled daily with inquiries for 2014 and 2015.  We are scheduling complimentary consultations daily, and our calendar is filling up.  If you are interested in planning, coordinating, decorating, or officiate services, be sure to call us to book your consultation ASAP!  707.845.4998.

We would like to congratulate all of the 2014 brides and wish all of our partnering vendors a fantastic wedding season.  Cheers!

Highlights from Idea Factory 2013

Last month (March 8 -13, 2013), Alegria~Sita (Owner/Certified Event Planner) of Gala Beleza Events & Weddings attended Event Solutions "Idea Factory" Trade Show and Conference where she joined hundreds of event professionals from around the world in Las Vegas for a week full of learning, discovery, and fun! The 2013 Idea Factory was packed with the latest event designs, styles, and trends!

Alegria began the week in Lovegevity Wedding Planning Institute’s (LWPI)"Learn It, Teach It, Style It" Seminar with Dina Manzo (Event Stylist from HGTV's Dina's Party, and former Housewife of New Jersey). This seminar taught event planners the value in hosting wedding planning parties for potential clients. Alegria was asked to present her Wedding Planning on Wheels Tours as an exemplary model of a wedding planning party. Following her presentation Cho Phillips (CEO of LWPI), Richard Hallmarq (from Project Runway) and Naima Mora (America's Next Top Model) presented Alegria with an "Entrepreneur of the Year" Award in the form of a stunning diamond plaque. The week was off to an amazing start!

The following afternoon, Alegria joined a group of LWPI event designers in the production of a prestigious private party for celebrity event designer Preston Bailey. Working together, they transformed a Mirage Conference Room into a swanky event venue. Utilizing the latest in décor trends, the entire room was dressed from floor to ceiling in pipe and drape with white, multi-textured silks. Flashing LED up-lights provided color saturation and brought the room to life with each blinking color transition. Several cocktail tables were scattered throughout the room swathed in silver silk linens and topped with delicate floral arrangements and LED tea lights. A modern set of chairs and small couch and coffee table offered guests a lounge-style corner to relax in. The center of the room featured an art installation of 4 mannequins adorned in ornate arrangements of floral couture. The DJ provided smooth soundscapes of House Music. Preston Bailey was pleased, and spent the evening meeting each guest one at a time.

Alegria spent the next day in workshops learning about the latest trends in the wedding and event planning industry from tent décor to best business practices. She met event planners from all over the world, exchanging cards and ideas for networking throughout the next year. Celebrity Event Planner David Tutera participated in a Q & A session, lending his dos and don’ts to all of the industry professionals in the audience. The day was wrapped up with a conference-wide, poolside cocktail party featuring theatrical living art installations, like the living statues (costumed performers who held and subtly altered their poses for spectators). More networking!

On the last day of the conference, Alegria attended the expansive tradeshow featuring all of the latest and greatest of premier vendors in the events industry. David Tutera hosted a Tabletop Competition. Alegria snapped photos of décor design ideas and met hundreds of vendors in linens, décor design, caterers, serving ware, and lighting, exchanging business cards with each introduction. Needless to say, Gala Beleza is a well-networked and resourced company with industry leaders all over the country!

Overall, Alegria had a fantastic time at Event Solution’s Idea Factory, and will certainly be attending in the future! She can’t wait to bring the inspiration that she received from the conference and trade show to events in Humboldt County, and Northern California at large!
